In 2016 Mezzanine was in the stunning country of Iceland shooting episode one of our ten-part travel & photography program for Network Ten, Photo Number 6. To get the most out of our experience, we enlisted the services of one of the countries most respected photographic tour guides, Mark Andreas Jones, from Andreas Jones Photography Tours.
During the 9 days we spent with Mark, we discussed the possibility of creating a downloadable overview of the most stunning places in Iceland to photograph, including how to get them, what equipment you’ll need and how to capture them to achieve the best results. Iceland is a wealth of photographic opportunities but to get the best out of the experience, you need expert advice.
Over the last 2 years, Mark and Mezzanine Films have been planning our return visit to shoot a video guide and in February 2019, it will finally come to fruition. However, this is not a project that is funded by producers or sponsors with deep pockets. And the associated costs of taking a crew to Iceland for ten days are significant, not mention pre-production & post production man-hours.
The question is, should lack of funding be a reason not to produce a great idea?
Mezzanine Films has the infrastructure, facilities, personnel and technical know-how to create this product without external funding so we’ve decided to fund ‘A Photographers Guide To Iceland’ ourselves with the aim of recovering our investment by marketing the video to Mark’s world-wide database of photography enthusiasts. There are no guarantees of course, but we believe you have to spend money to make money. In a worst-case scenario, at least the crew get a spectacular ten day tour of one of the most remarkable countries in the world! Keep an eye on this blog to see how we are going.
